Treatment Approach

Experience

I am a psychodynamically trained therapist providing short and long-term therapy in suburban Philadelphia, in person and virtually. I specialize in working with adults 50+ and their families who are navigating the stages of mid and late life aging. These issues can include emotional concerns (depression, trauma, grief/loss, stress), physical/mental/spiritual health challenges, or simply managing the various life transitions that accompany aging. My trauma training informs my work, and I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Jungian practices.

I have comprehensive clinical experience working with older adults and their families, and have worked extensively with helping people manage chronic health and chronic pain conditions, codependency recovery, caregiver stress, and family conflict. I believe you can have the fullest possible life at any age and will work with you to achieve your goals as we explore what is possible, while balancing the realities of the aging process, both internally and externally.

Approach

The challenges you face at this time may be expected, or unexpected, or be more than you feel capable of coping with alone. In our work together, I will assist you in developing the strength and skills you need to effectively meet your life tasks and develop aspects of yourself that you may not have had time to explore earlier in your life.

It would be an honor to accompany you as you navigate these next chapters of your life which offer both great joys and great challenges. You can expect respectful companionship during our time together.

What Is Conscious Aging?

Conscious Aging is a perspective that offers a rich, substantial approach to the aging process.  My colleague and collaborator Catherine Dockery has an in-depth description of Conscious Aging on her Conscious Aging Website.
